For years, the Jackson community has watched Asa Ware grow from a talented young athlete into one of cheerleading’s most exciting rising stars. Now, as his cheer career reaches new heights, Ware continues to prove that athletes from Jackson can compete and win on the biggest stages.

Since last catching up with readers of the Jackson Advocate, Ware’s journey has accelerated in remarkable ways. In April 2025, his team secured a fifth consecutive Cheerleading World Championship title, marking Ware’s second world championship victory. Just months later, he committed to Trinity Valley Community College, where he is currently pursuing a degree in kinesiology while competing at the collegiate level.

But the milestones didn’t stop there. In October 2025, Ware earned acceptance into the Professional Cheer League, joining Dallas Drive during the league’s inaugural season. The opportunity placed him among the sport’s elite, adding professional athlete to his already impressive resume.

“Adding professional cheerleader to my career has pushed me both technically and mentally,” Ware shared. “Being part of building something groundbreaking motivates me to represent my team and inspire young athletes who want to reach this level.”

Balancing collegiate competition, professional commitments and academics has not come without its challenges. Ware admits the physical and mental demands of competing at multiple elite levels require discipline and sacrifice. Yet, he credits his Jackson upbringing and family support system for keeping him grounded.

As the grandson of retired Judge Tomie Green, Ware says excellence, humility and perseverance were values instilled early on in his life. He also notes that encouragement from Jackson’s cheer community continues to fuel his determination wherever he competes.

The past year alone has delivered milestone moments, including national titles and preparing to compete at events like NCA College Nationals. Still, Ware says the growth behind the scenes matters just as much as the trophies.

“I’m most proud of the discipline and personal growth it took to achieve these goals,” he said. For young athletes who may not view cheerleading as a traditional pathway, Ware hopes his journey proves otherwise. Traveling the world while proudly representing his hometown has shown him that opportunities in cheer are limitless for those willing to commit to the work.

Looking ahead, Ware plans to continue growing both academically and athletically while competing professionally in the Professional Cheer League. Most importantly, he hopes to keep carrying Jackson with him as his platform expands.

No matter how big the stage becomes, Ware says his roots remain the foundation.

And for Jackson, watching one of its own continue to rise is a victory in itself.
