Jackson, Mississippi, we have a beautiful harvest network coming to the city! I’m excited to share with you all the launch of the Delta Harvest Neighborhood Market at the Jackson Medical Mall, beginning June 4th.
This weekly community market is about more than fresh food. It’s about connection, bridging gaps, and creating a space where families can gather, support one another, and pour back into the local economy.
According to Executive Director Tracy Johnson, the mission is to connect Mississippi farmers and food producers directly with Jackson families while making healthy, fresh food more accessible in a trusted, community-centered location.
The Delta Harvest Neighborhood Market focuses on strengthening relationships between local farmers and Jackson communities through partnerships with churches, healthcare-centered institutions, nonprofits, and community organizations. Johnson emphasized that the market is about more than selling people food. It is intentionally designed to build community trust, support local economic development, improve food access, and create long-term partnerships that benefit Jackson families.
Unlike many traditional farmers markets, the Delta Harvest Neighborhood Market will accept EBT payments to ensure families from all backgrounds can participate. Products are expected to include fresh vegetables, meats, smoked meats, eggs, pantry staples, and “Dinner Tonight” meal options designed to make meal preparation easier for families.
The market will operate every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jackson Medical Mall, located at 350 W. Woodrow Wilson Avenue, with curbside pickup available.
Johnson’s long-term vision is to build a sustainable weekly market that becomes a dependable community asset, strengthens local food dollar circulation, and connects farmers, families, churches, and community partners. Johnson also expressed gratitude toward the churches that have been instrumental in helping spread awareness, encourage participation, and strengthen community engagement throughout the process, with plans to continue expanding those partnerships across the Jackson community.
