On August 1, 2026, Body And Mind Soulutions JXN (BAMS JXN) launched the JXN Wellness Hub at the Jackson Advocate Headquarters in Downtown Jackson. Bringing the community together at the historic Jackson Advocate made this a memorable event for everyone involved. With over two decades of experience as a Health and Wellness Consultant and Professional Massage Therapist, I answered the call to provide wellness resources to the community, while also celebrating National Black Business Month. The JXN Wellness Hub connected residents with local wellness professionals, free health screenings, therapeutic services, and Black-owned businesses committed to sharing their gifts right here in the capital.
While promoting this event, I discovered many people were not aware that National Black Business Month even existed! Established in 2004 through the vision of historian John William Templeton and engineer Frederick E. Jordan Sr., National Black Business Month honors the vital legacy of Black entrepreneurs while inspiring year-round support for Black-owned enterprises across our communities. Rather than simply acknowledging the month, I wanted to celebrate in a way that reflected the mission of BAMS JXN.
The JXN Wellness Hub became my opportunity to spotlight local businesses, showcase alternative approaches to healing, and create a space for networking, collaboration and community.
My main focus was to create an atmosphere that addressed the whole body: the emotions, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects. The “Relax Room” was set up indoors, where attendees received complimentary chair massages in a peaceful, private environment. Kevion Devanté, founder of Livin’ InnerG, offered soothing sound baths in a private indoor space, supporting those individuals who needed that energetic and emotional reset. The remaining vendor experiences included: free chiropractic body scans, mental health screenings, skincare analysis, cold-pressed juices, herbs, tinctures and tonics, handcrafted body products, electronic caregiver services, and medical insurance.
The positive feedback was through the roof! Hearing people express how relaxed they felt and seeing their excitement after discovering a new local business was heartwarming. With so many individuals living with chronic pain, chronic stress, depression, and poor overall health, the JXN Wellness Hub reminded the community that our health is our responsibility. I was personally impressed with each business owner’s professionalism, knowledge, services, and products. It was inspiring to see so many wellness professionals and entrepreneurs come together with a shared commitment to educating, serving, and uplifting the community.
As National Black Business Month continues, I encourage everyone reading this to remain intentional throughout the year about supporting Black-owned businesses. Stay connected with the amazing vendors from the JXN Wellness Hub and don’t forget to schedule your massages! To view the JXN Wellness Hub August Directory, please visit: bodyandmindsoulutions.com.
