On Aug. 28th, Civil rights legend Dr. Flonzie Brown Goodloe Wright joined state and community leaders at the Mississippi State Capitol for the launch of the inaugural Flonzie Brown-Wright Voter Registration Day. The statewide initiative, led by the RECH Foundation, honors Dr. Wright’s decades of civil rights leadership and commitment to voting rights, voter access and civic participation in Mississippi. The Capitol ceremony featured remarks from Pauline Rogers, RECH founder/CEO, State Representative Justis Gibbs, State Senator Kamesha Mumford, Dr. Flonzie Brown Goodloe Wright and participating community leaders. The initiative calls on organizations and communities across all 82 Mississippi counties to promote voter registration, voter education, civic engagement and public service while honoring the legacy of those who fought to expand voting rights.
