JANS – In June 2023, the Tougaloo College Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Dr. Donzell Lee to serve as President, effective July 1, 2023, to lead the college in an interim capacity. The board has now voted by unanimous decision to extend Dr. Lee’s tenure by one additional year to June 30, 2025.

Dr. Lee will work closely with the trustees to ensure that the college fulfills its mission, establishing its strategic vision and priorities and providing leadership for their implementation. 

Under Dr. Lee’s leadership, he will lead the college’s SACSCOC Fifth-Year Interim Review Process to conclude in 2025, ensuring Tougaloo’s commitment to high-quality education, integrity, and student success. He will also lead the revision and implementation of the college’s strategic plan, “Preserving the Past, Advancing Tomorrow”.

In the summer of 2024, the board of trustees will embark on a thoughtful presidential search process to name the 15th president of Tougaloo College. Dr. Lee will assist in providing a smooth transition throughout the search process.
