The College of Health Services and Careers honors graduates at White Coat Ceremony

JANS – The College of Health Services and Careers held its White Coat Ceremony and Graduation Celebration June 11, 2026, at TruVine Baptist Church, 124 Vine Drive, Brandon, MS. The program honored more than 55 graduates who have successfully completed their allied health programs and are preparing to enter the healthcare workforce. 

Among them were 22 Jackson Public Schools (JPS) students who completed their training through the Health Sciences Program at the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Career Development Center.

These JPS graduates represented Lanier, Forest Hill, Provine, and Callaway high schools. All students completed programs in Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, EKG, Health Care Tech, Pharmacy Tech, Patient Care Tech, Clinical Med, Cardiac Care Tech, and Med Tech.

Makeba White Chanay, Founder and Chairperson of the Board, emphasized the significance of this year’s cohort. “This is one of the largest classes in our school’s history,” Chanay said. “These students have shown remarkable dedication, and we are excited to see them continue their journeys as they prepare for state and national certification exams.”

Dr. Eric Cook, Principal and Director of the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Career Development Center, highlighted the rapid growth of the partnership with the College of Health Services and Careers. “In just our second year working together, we’ve grown from seven students in 2025 to twenty two this year,” Cook noted. “Jackson Public Schools is raising the bar by ensuring our students graduate with meaningful, workforce ready credentials in the allied health field.”

The ceremony underscored the College’s mission to prepare skilled, compassionate, and job ready healthcare professionals through rigorous instruction and hands on training.
