Kandice Benford is a natural hairstylist, creative entrepreneur, and advocate for confidence through beauty and self-expression. Through hair, wellness, and storytelling, she creates spaces where Black women and children feel seen, celebrated, and empowered. Living with vitiligo has deepened her passion for helping others embrace their beauty unapologetically while encouraging rest, softness, and self-love within the community.
Why I rest: I rest because I deserve to exist beyond survival and productivity. Rest allows me to reconnect with myself, protect my peace, and show up whole for my family, clients, and community.
How I rest: I rest by slowing down and creating moments of stillness throughout my day. Sometimes that looks like unplugging from social media, spending quiet time with loved ones, listening to worship music, or simply allowing myself to breathe without pressure. I’m learning that rest does not always have to be earned.
My go-to self-care routine: My go-to self-care routine includes skincare, doing my hair, journaling, and spending intentional quiet time with God. I also enjoy creating peaceful spaces at home with soft lighting, calming scents, and moments where I can reset mentally and emotionally. Self-care helps me pour back into myself.
