JANS – With the theme “Celebrating and Embracing an Extraordinary Legacy,” Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Delta Zeta Chapter, celebrated 88 years of chartered history, service, and sisterhood on October 10, 2026, at the Jackson Convention Center. The Charter Day celebration brought sorority and community members together to honor the chapter’s founding members, reflect on its enduring legacy, and strengthen the bonds of sisterhood that continue to unite generations of women.

The celebration centered on preserving the chapter’s history while encouraging continued engagement, collaboration, and growth. Through historical presentations, musical tributes, poetry, and interactive sisterly bonding activities, attendees celebrated Alpha Delta Zeta’s legacy and its commitment to the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.

A highlight of the program was “Magnificent 8,” a documentary screening produced by Chapter Member Kayla T. Thomas. The presentation honored Alpha Delta Zeta Chapter’s eight charter members: Mollye Young Sims, Jennie O. Johnson, Helen Allen Cooper, Mabel Roseman Sims, Julia Stutts Polk, Frances Alexander, Birdie Graves Winters, and Estelle G. Young. The documentary highlighted the women’s lives and contributions, recognizing the vision and dedication of those who established a foundation that continues to inspire the chapter today.

The program also featured a special performance by the newly formed Alpha Delta Zeta Chorus, marking an exciting addition to the chapter’s activities. Also an original poem penned by Chapter Member Dr. Amanda Rice added a meaningful and reflective element to the program. The celebration was further honored by the visit of International Treasurer Toi Thurman, whose presence added to the significance of Alpha Delta Zeta Chapter’s 88th Charter Day observance.
