Pearl Street AME Church set to celebrate women

JANS – Something extraordinary is happening at Pearl Street AME Church this May – and the entire community is invited to be part of it.

Under the visionary leadership of Women’s Day Chairwoman Dr. Deloris Bolden Stamps, Pearl Street AME Church will present the 2026 Women’s Day Celebration, a season of faith, fellowship, healing, and empowerment designed to uplift lives and strengthen the community.

“This is more than an event…it’s a movement,” declares Dr. Stamps.

And indeed it is.

Built upon the powerful pillars of Renewal, Restoration, Empowerment, Outreach, and Service, this year’s celebration is a bold reminder that when women lead with faith, compassion, and purpose, communities flourish.

Inspired by the words of Psalm 139:14 – “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made”, the theme “A Divine Masterpiece in the Making” speaks directly to every heart. It is a declaration that no matter your season in life, God is still shaping you, healing you, and preparing something beautiful within you.

The celebration kicks off Saturday, May 16 with a Health & Wellness Expo. The movement begins with a powerful day of wellness and community care at The Pearl Apartments, 2649 US-80, Jackson, MS, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This free community event will offer:

“This is more than an expo – it is an opportunity to invest in your body, mind, and spirit. Bring your family, invite your neighbors, and come experience healing and hope in action,” said program co-chair ReJohnna Brown Mitchell.

The celebration continues with a spirit-filled Women’s Day Program on Sunday, May 24th, 10:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary located at 2519 Robinson St. in Jackson, MS. Guest speaker is the widely acclaimed author and gospel comedienne Rev. Dr. Eraina Marie Ross-Aseme who currently serves as Associate Minister at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Leavenworth, KS.

“It will be a sacred time to honor the strength, grace, wisdom, and resilience of women while giving glory to God for the masterpieces He continues to create through their lives,” said Dr. Stamps.

Pastor Samuel H. Boyd Sr. concurs. “In times when the world needs healing, unity, and hope, Pearl Street AME Church is answering the call. This Women’s Day Celebration is for mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, seniors and youth, believers and seekers. It is for anyone who needs encouragement, connection, and a reminder that brighter days are ahead.

“Come be renewed. Come be restored. Come be empowered. Come be loved.”
