Demolition and Removal of Former Virginia College Building

Notice to Contractors:

Sealed bids will be received by the Hinds County Chancery Clerk, 2nd floor of the Hinds County Chancery Court Building before 10:00 a.m. on October 28, 2026, for the Complete Demolition and Removal of the former Virginia College Building, located at 5841 Ridgewood Road, Jackson MS.  Bids will be opened and publicly read aloud in the Board of Supervisors’ Room in the Hinds County Chancery Court Building, 316 South President Street, Jackson, Mississippi at 10:00 a.m. on October 28, 2026.

SCOPE OF WORK:  Principle items of work will include the complete demolition and removal of existing site and building construction.  Removal of refuse and debris and demolished material from the property.  Patch all areas and surfaces damaged as a result of removal work, match existing adjacent surface and/or areas.  Promptly clean areas outside of the construction area that collect dust or debris.  Contractors will be required to serve all proper notices and acquire all necessary building demolition permits.  Removal of existing site concrete slab, landscape, etc.

Plans and Proposals may be picked up at the Hinds County Department of Public Works located at 900 E Main Street, Raymond, MS 39154.  Certified check or bid bond for five percent (5%) of the total bid, made payable to Hinds County must accompany each proposal.  The winning bidder will be required to provide a performance bond prior to execution of the contract.

BASIS OF AWARD: The award, if made, will be to the lowest, responsive, and responsible bidder on the basis of published quantities.

The Board of Supervisors hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award.

GENERAL OBLIGATION NOTE, SERIES 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Supervisors (the “Governing Body”) of Hinds County, Mississippi (the “County”), or its designated representative, will receive sealed proposals for the purchase, at not less than par of $1,973,386.00 aggregate principal amount, Hinds County, Mississippi General Obligation Note, Series 2026 (the “Note”) of the County, pursuant to the authority granted under Section 17-21-51 et seq. of the Mississippi Code of 1972 as amended, for the purpose of purchasing fire apparatus and fire equipment.

Sealed bids will be received by the Hinds County Chancery Clerk, 2nd floor of the Hinds County Chancery Court Building before 10:00 a.m. on October 28, 2026.  Bids will be opened and publicly read aloud in the Board of Supervisors’ Room in the Hinds County Chancery Court Building, 316 South President Street, Jackson, Mississippi at 10:00 a.m. on October 28, 2026.

The Board will accept and approve the bid with the lowest net interest rate, or the bid that represents the lowest net cost to the County.  Repayment terms of this transaction will be for 5 years with annual payments according to the payment schedule.  Hinds County reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
