Jacqueline Lavon Gray – Jackie to friends and family – was born on April 3, 1965 in Jackson, Mississippi to Mr. Tommy Gray and Mrs. Mary Davis-Gray.

Jackie was a lifelong member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, MS where she was baptized at a young age. She was active in her faith through singing in the youth choir, serving on the junior and senior usher boards, and attending weekly Bible studies and worship until her health declined.

Jackie attended school in the Jackson Public School District, graduating Murrah High School Class of 1983. She furthered her studies at Hinds Community College, working to attain her associate’s degree. After years of work in insurance, she continued her higher education, completing her Bachelor’s in Health Administration at Belhaven College. Beyond career and education, she was active in family, health, and community.

Often described as independent and assertive, Jackie was known to speak her mind and to also keep a clean home and mowed yard.

Jackie departed this earthly life on September 2, 2021 peacefully in her bed at home surrounded by friends and family.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Lee Gray.

Jackie leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Jarvis Jermel Gray and Jermany Javoris Gray; childhood friend and godsister, Sentia Brown; brothers, Curtis James Gray, Christopher Gerald Gray, Sr., and Leroy Perry; nephews, Rashaad, Christopher Jr., Braylyn, and Anthony; nieces, Ashley, Jasmine, and Keana; and other family members and friends.
