Jackson Public Schools Science Fair & S.T.E.A.M. Expo Moves to New Location for Bigger, More Interactive Experience
Jackson, MS – Save the date! The annual Jackson Public Schools Science Fair and S.T.E.A.M. Expo is back. On Saturday, February 7, from 9 a.m. to noon, scholars, families, and community partners will gather at the MS Trademark Center on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds (1200 Mississippi Street, Jackson, MS 30202) for a morning full of hands-on experiments, live demonstrations, and over one hundred S.T.E.A.M. exhibits.
“As the JPS District Science Fair Coordinator, I’m honored to showcase the creativity, critical thinking, and innovation of our scholars,” said Dr. Dominique McInnis. “This event brings together scholars, families, and community partners to celebrate learning and inspire future S.T.E.A.M. careers.”
Parents and families can look forward to seeing scholars present their original research projects, engaging with community partners to explore S.T.E.A.M. pathways and careers, and enjoying performances and art exhibits.
What you can expect:
- Art Exhibits: Scholars will display creative works that blend artistic expression with scientific thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, showing how art plays a critical role in science, technology, engineering, and math.
- Student Performances: Performing Arts programs are joining the Expo with performances that celebrate creativity, communication, and innovation; key skills in S.T.E.A.M. fields.
- Hands-On Activities: Scholars can dive into engineering and design challenges, robotics and technology demonstrations, coding and digital learning experiences, science experiments, and art-integrated S.T.E.A.M. projects. Career exploration activities led by industry partners will also give scholars a glimpse into S.T.E.A.M. careers.
- Vendors: A diverse lineup of community, educational, and industry partners will provide demonstrations, resources, and interactive experiences. Anticipated participants include Nissan, Lobaki, BeanPath, Mississippi Book Festival, Toot, Teach, & Roll, STEMscopes, Discovery Education, Jackson Fire Department, plus face painting and interactive entertainment.
