JANS – Are you or do you know a current college student with interests in serving the Mississippi community? The Mississippi State Conference NAACP announces the second annual Ineva May Pittman internship program. This internship allows for the youth to get involved in impacting the community while developing skills for the workplace. Interns will work directly with staff and committee chairs to execute essential program areas. 

Interns will be paired with programs/campaigns that match their career interests while learning about current social justice work and civil rights history. Interns are being sought with exceptional writing ability, a thirst for knowledge, and strong organizational skills, but above all, students who are not afraid of a challenge.

Program Information

To qualify, you must be a current student attending a college/university in Mississippi or a current college student in Mississippi for the summer.

This is a hybrid position; regular virtual and in-person meetings are required. Although it is a hybrid position, interns must be located in Mississippi. 

Interns must work at least 20 hours per week; some weekends and evenings are required.

Must complete all assignments and submit weekly timekeeping reports.

Must be able to travel in state for 3-5 in-person convenings. MS NAACP will pay travel expenses.

Must work on a project that will be presented by the interns at the conclusion of the program.

The internship begins June 3, 2024, and concludes on July 31, 2024.

Interns are paid a total of $3,000 in two equal payments on the last day of each month.
