On Jun. 7th, community members gathered at the Hyatt Place Jackson/Ridgeland for a Gun Violence Awareness Month event focused on promoting safer communities and reducing gun violence. Sponsored by Grace Defined By Faith the event brought together residents, advocates and local leaders for discussions on prevention, awareness, and community action. Attendees heard from keynote speakers while also participating in conversations aimed at creating positive change and building a safer future. “The annual #2026WearOrange weekend, inspired by the life of Hadiya Pendleton and celebrated nationwide, continues to remind us of the critical role community action, survivor support, and policy changes play in creating safer environments,” commented Eva Jones, founder of Butterflies (Advocate Photos: Joshua Martin)
