Rep. Cheikh Taylor

JANS – The Mississippi Democratic Party is fast at work with a new initiative – “Back to Ballot: Purged Voter Program” – to reach out to voters whose registrations may have been purged from the voter rolls. “This effort aims to ensure that every eligible Mississippian has the opportunity to participate in the upcoming election and to protect the voices of all citizens in the democratic process,” said Rep. Cheikh Taylor, Party Chair.

The program will use peer to peer messaging, phone calls, and other outreach efforts to inform voters purged from the rolls about their options to re-register and ensure they are eligible to vote. The Mississippi Democratic Party is committed to helping voters understand their rights and regain their ability to participate in the election.

“We believe that the right to vote is sacred, and we are taking action to ensure that no one is denied the opportunity to make their voice heard,” said Rep. Taylor. “This program is about protecting democracy and standing up for the rights of all Mississippians, no matter their political party.”

The program will:

• Contact voters who may have been purged, guiding them through re-registering to vote.

• Offer assistance through a voter hotline and online resources to help affected voters navigate the process.

• Partner with community organizations to spread awareness about voter purging and how voters can ensure they are eligible to vote.

“We are here to protect the rights of all citizens, and that starts with ensuring everyone has access to the ballot box,” said Mikel Bolden, Executive Director, MS Democratic Party. “This effort will help ensure that every eligible voter can cast their vote, regardless of their party affiliation.”

Mississippians can find out how to register to vote and access important, state-specific voting information on IWillVote.com and VoyAVotar.com for voting information in Spanish. Mississippians may also reach out to (1-833-DEM-VOTE) 1-833-336-8683.
