City of Jackson to host parade in honor of JSU Tigers

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

(Jackson, Miss.) – The City of Jackson is thrilled to announce that it will host a parade to honor the undisputed champs of the Celebration Bowl – the JSU Tigers!!  The parade is tentatively scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, January 17.  Jackson State officials helped to select the date to ensure all students will be home from the holidays during the break.  The goal is to allow access for as many students as possible.

The City of Jackson is extremely proud of this year’s JSU Tigers team and the hard work, dedication, and pride they have shown all season long. The Tigers capped off an impressive season with a convincing 28 to 7 win over South Carolina State in the Celebration Bowl on Saturday.  It marks the first Celebration Bowl win for JSU in program history.

“I am extremely proud of our JSU Tigers,” said Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba. “Their win is the culmination of a season-long commitment and dedication to one another. It is also rooted in the leadership of Head Coach T.C. Taylor and staff, and we look forward to continued excellence. The parade is just one way the City of Jackson can show its appreciation to these scholar athletes, coaches, and staff.”

The City of Jackson does not have a specific parade route at the moment, but will release additional details about the parade in the coming weeks.  We will also notify the public of any changes to the time and date of the parade.
