Twelve JPS scholars selected to serve on State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council
Twelve Jackson Public Schools scholars have been selected to serve on the Mississippi Department of Education’s 2026-27 State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, a distinguished group that gives high school scholars an opportunity to share their perspectives on education with state leaders.
The council serves as a forum for scholars from across Mississippi to provide feedback, offer ideas, and discuss educational opportunities and policies with the State Superintendent of Education. Members also serve as liaisons between the Mississippi Department of Education and public school scholars throughout the state.
The following JPS scholars were selected to the 2026-27 council:
Paige Barker, JTECHS (Jackson Tougaloo Early College High School)
Ariel Bell-Tucker, JTECHS
