On Oct. 29th, Bishop William J. Barber II joined faith leaders, community organizers and labor representatives in Jackson for the Mississippi Poor People’s Campaign’s “March to the Polls.” The march began at the Jackson Convention Complex and proceeded to the Hinds County Circuit Clerk’s Office as part of the campaign’s “100 Days, 1,000 Marches to the Polls” initiative. The effort encouraged eligible voters to participate in in-person absentee voting ahead of the November 3rd election. Barber, president and senior lecturer of Repairers of the Breach, was joined by other speakers and participants, including Danyelle Holmes and other faith and community leaders. The event emphasized voter participation and collective civic engagement under the theme, “Love Forward Together. Not One Step Back.” He also spoke at Tougaloo College.
