WHAT IS YOUR NAME?
My name is Stephanie McKenzie Foster, a candidatefor re-election.
IN 250 WORDS OR LESS, PLEASE TELL US WHY YOU ARE SEEKING PUBLIC OFFICE?
I am seeking another term inpublic office because God called me to serve people and I love serving our beautiful district and The Great State of Mississippi. I have always desired to become a public servant.Four years ago, I had a chance to run for public office and won.It has been a great experience in my life and I am honored for the opportunity.
WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS/ARE THE GREATEST OBSTACLE(S) TO ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN HINDS COUNTY?
I believe access to quality education and training opportunities are essential to the local workforce making it easier for businesses to secure jobs for skilled workers.Without skilled workers in the workforce, economic growth is next to impossible. Inadequate infrastructure, such as roads, public transportation, and broadband internet, can hinder businesses’ ability to operate responsibly and efficiently and attract investors. We must work together to change that in our district and our state.
IF ELECTED, WHAT STEPS WILL YOU TAKE TO MINIMIZE OR ELIMINATE THIS/THESE OBSTACLE(S)?
When re-elected, I will continue to listen to the constituents in my district to effectively eliminate obstacles they face and foster sustainable economic and community development. I will author and support bills, as I have done for the past four years, that will serve all people and secure better outcomes for the growth and development of our district and state.I was instrumental in securing over $1.6 million for projects in District 63, $500,000 for infrastructure for Bolton, Edwards, Learned, Raymond and Utica, and $6 million that would help South Jackson Drinking Water Pressure Improvement.I authored and secured a $20 million bill to assist Clinton, Raymond, Bolton and Edwards Water and Sewer Plant Capacity Expansion.I am a proven leader in finding real solutions to the issues we face.
