90 years of history is what we should claim you to be. 

You stood up for your rights so others could shine their lights. 

Fighting racism is a hard thing to do, 

but you did it with the weight of the world on you. 

At 29 years of age I know you were afraid of what you would have to face because of your race.

90 years of history is what we should claim you to be.

You knew you had to keep going though others made many threats.

Little did they know your work was not done yet! 

You’ve always been a mover and shaker of sorts, 

Serving the world in the United States Air Force! 

You made the choice to use your voice. 

You were strong and made them believe you belonged.

Today, we celebrate history, and Mr. Meredith, 

History is you! We’re proud of your accomplishments 

And all that you have been through.

Everything that you have done has made oh such an impact. 

You are a person I aspire to be like, and that’s a fact!
