On Saturday, June 26, 2021, the Provine High School Class of 1989 celebrated their collective 50th Birthday at Cathedral AME Activity Center. The evening consisted of food, fun, and fellowship. Countless memories were shared through a commemorative slide show and classmates’ testimonials. A memorial wall was erected for deceased classmates and a balloon release was held in their honor. Brenita Brown, class member and event coordinator, said, “It was truly an honor to celebrate this milestone with my classmates. Our class has always demonstrated the true meaning of school spirit and our special bond.” The Class of ‘89 has worked diligently to keep its legacy alive at Provine High School. United with other graduating classes, they have completed a three phase beautification project to assist with school ground maintenance. They actively participate in homecoming activities, including the parade where they have taken the title of “Best Float” several times. The class is now working to extend its reach and give back to the scholars by providing academic scholarships to graduating seniors beginning with the Class of 2022.
