The Life and Legacy of William H. Revies

Longtime educator William H. Revies succumbed August 5, 2026. He was 83. Funeral services were held August 18 at St. Columb’s Episcopal Church in Ridgeland, MS.

Revies was born on June 26, 1943, in Hattiesburg, MS to William and Ollie Lee Revies. He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest sister, Larosa Gail Revies.

He graduated from Earl Travillion High School in Hattiesburg, MS and continued his education at Jackson State University in Jackson, MS, where he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Education.

Revies served in the field of education for over 40 years. This included serving as Assistant Principal at Pearl High School in Pearl, MS, and Forest Hill High School in Jackson, MS. He then served as Principal at Blackburn Middle School in Jackson, MS. He loved his students and would go the extra mile to ensure their success. During his tenure with the Jackson Public School District, he was named Administrator of the Year for 1999-2000. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Utica Junior College for football. He was an avid golfer and was also inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Jackson State University for golf.

After retiring, he continued his service as an educator by mentoring new principals and consulting with other local school districts.

He was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church of the Ascension (formerly St. Mark’s/St. Christopher’s). His service included serving as Senior Warden for three terms and organizing cleanup campaigns and picnics. It was there that he proudly served PoWill’s Bar-B-Que and participated in other activities that benefited the church.

Revies seized opportunities to engage with and give back to the community. He, along with other Grove Park Duffers Golf Club members, organized and distributed food bags for Christmas to families for many years. They also organized and operated a Junior Golf Clinic during the summer months. Today, there are adult golfers who attribute their success in the sport to this clinic.

Revies is survived by his wife of 63 years: Goldia Moffett Revies; daughters: Mechell Watkins (Antonio), Lisa Revies, and Kesha Revies Jenkins (Marshal); grandchildren: Ebony Revies, Chynna Watkins Robinson (Mark), Sydney Watkins Martin (Carl), Marissa Jenkins, Marshal Jenkins II, and Kamryn Jenkins; great-grandson: Mark Antonio Robinson; siblings: Lee Gertha Jackson, Gloria Smith, Terrace Revies (A. Jewel), and Donnie Revies; god-children: Monica Young, Natalie Young, Nichole Young, and Washad Catchings; nephews and nieces; bonus sons: Willie Brown, Bobby Brown, and Dennis Bonds; and a host of relatives and friends.
