Thaggard named Boyd Elementary principal

JANS – Denise Thaggard has named the principal of Boyd Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.

Thaggard brings more than 20 years of dedicated service to Jackson Public Schools, where she has faithfully served scholars, families, and educators through both teaching and leadership.

Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of roles, including teacher, interventionist, and assistant principal, gaining extensive experience in curriculum, instruction, school improvement, and building strong relationships that foster student success. Her passion for educational excellence and servant leadership has prepared her to lead with vision, integrity, and a commitment to helping every scholar reach their full potential.

Thaggard earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Belhaven University and holds an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree from Liberty University. She is dedicated to creating a positive school culture where students thrive, teachers are empowered, and families are valued as essential partners in education.
