MOTIVATIONAL MONDAYS IN THE MARKETPLACE

A New Season. A New Sound.

By Dr. Kathy Amos

We are in a new season! I believe God is doing a new thing in our businesses, ministries, and communities. But can you perceive it? Can you hear it? I believe a new sound is being released over Mississippi, and marketplace leaders must become attentive to what God
may be saying.

Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV) declares, “Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?” Originally a promise of restoration to Israel, this passage also challenges us to consider whether we are so accustomed to yesterday that we overlook what is
emerging today.

What is a new sound for a business or community leader? It is not necessarily something heard with natural ears. It may be a fresh prompting to reconsider how we lead, whom we serve, and what our assignments require. For the entrepreneur, it may mean moving from
survival to sustainability, strengthening financial stewardship, or exploring responsible innovation. For the community leader, it may mean replacing repeated conversations about problems with partnerships that produce solutions. For the ministry leader, it may mean developing people and extending meaningful service beyond the church walls.

A new sound does not always mean a new assignment. Sometimes it means approaching an existing assignment with renewed wisdom, courage, and strategy. Yet not every unfamiliar opportunity is divine direction. We must prayerfully test what we believe we hear
against Scripture, godly character, and wise counsel.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27, NKJV). Hearing is connected to following. We can become so busy managing the work God entrusted to us that we stop making time to listen to Him. Customers, finances,
expectations, fear, and endless activity can fill every quiet space.

The sons of Issachar understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do (1 Chronicles 12:32). Mississippi needs that kind of discerning leadership: people who can recognize when collaboration, integrity, mentorship, or a different approach is necessary.
This week, reserve twenty uninterrupted minutes to pray about your assignment. Ask: What should I notice? What should I reconsider? What should I do? Write down your reflections and take one wise, obedient step.

A new season requires attentiveness. A new sound requires a listening ear. And a divine instruction requires a response. Mississippi, can you perceive it? Can you hear it?
