Each year the Mississippi Association of Supervisors Minority Caucus awards fourteen scholarships in the amount of $1000 each to graduating high school seniors across Mississippi who plan to attend a Mississippi university, college, or community college.

At its regular board meeting on June 21, 2021, the Hinds County Board of Supervisors recognized Joshua Briscoe, a recent graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School, who resides in Hinds County and was awarded one of the 2021 scholarships.

This year’s essay topic was, “The coronavirus pandemic has affected every county in Mississippi. What lesson can be learned from this worldwide pandemic? What can county governments learn from these lessons and develop future policies that will enable local governments to be better prepared for unforeseen crises?”

Joshua’s father is no longer living. However, his mother told the Board that “his father always told him to finish strong.”

Congratulations to Joshua Briscoe for a job well done and to his future accomplishments.
