On Oct. 6th, The Pecan Tree Park Neighborhood Association and Lynch Street CME Church hosted a National Night Out event at Lynch Street CME Church at 2175 John R. Lynch St in Jackson. The community gathering focused on neighborhood safety, unity and fellowship, with food, games, music and activities for residents. Initiated in 1984 as an organized day for neighbors to leave their porch lights on to discourage criminal activity, National Night Out has grown to include block parties, cookouts, parades, and safety fairs. Attendees were also encouraged to participate in the “Shine Your Blue Lights” initiative. (Advocate Photos: Joshua Martin)
