On Sep. 12th, Mississippi for a Just World, People Over Politics and the Mississippi Rapid Response Coalition hosted a free community training, focused on the growing presence of data centers in Mississippi and their potential impact on local communities. Held at the Briarwood Arts Center in Jackson, the People Over Politics: Stop Data Centers training encouraged residents to learn more about issues involving water, energy, land use, public resources, neighborhoods and community development. The event was open to parents, students, residents, neighborhood leaders, organizers, faith leaders and others interested in understanding how data center development could affect Jackson communities and how residents can organize around these issues. Breakfast, lunch, childcare and parking were provided at no cost. (Advocate Photos: Joshua Martin)
