Dr. Kimberly Smith selected to lead Academic Support as assistant superintendent

JANS – Dr. Kimberly Smith has been named the Assistant Superintendent of Academic Support for the Jackson Public School District.

Dr. Smith currently serves as Executive Director of the Office of Teaching and Learning for Jackson Public Schools, bringing 28 years of experience as a teacher, instructional leader, principal, and district administrator. She is known for her ability to develop leaders, align systems, and improve outcomes for all scholars.

Throughout her career, she has championed curriculum, assessment, professional learning, early childhood education, and inclusive practices, guided by her belief that every child can learn, achieve, and thrive.

Grounded in a strong faith in God, Dr. Smith is the proud mother of her daughter, Kiersten, and an active member of the Jackson (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
