Approximately 50,000+ expected to attend 2026 HBCU Labor Day Classic Battle of the Bands on 9/6

JANS – On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the HBCU Labor Day Classic Battle of the Bands returns to Jackson, Mississippi. The nation’s premier HBCU marching band showcase is returning bigger, louder, and more exciting than ever. Expected to draw more than 50,000 fans, the event will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium (2531 N State St., Jackson, MS 39216) and anchor a weekend of entertainment, culture, and celebration. 

Presented by Renasant Bank and produced by BIG HBCU, one of the most anticipated moments of the event will be the historic first-ever appearance of Bethune-Cookman University in Jackson, Mississippi. 

Known throughout the country for its electrifying performances and rich tradition of excellence, Bethune-Cookman’s participation marks a major milestone for the HBCU Labor Day Classic and is expected to draw fans from across the Southeast and beyond. 

Thousands of fans from across the Southeast are expected to pack the Veterans Memorial Stadium to witness thrilling halftime-style performances that highlight the tradition and artistry of HBCU marching culture. The event kicks off with the HBCU Labor Day Fanfest at 12:00 p.m., offering a vibrant atmosphere of music, food, vendors, and community celebration leading into the main event. Gates to the stadium open at 4:00 p.m.. The Battle of the Bands will officially start at 7:00 p.m., where each band will take the field to showcase their best sounds, drills, and signature moves.

Early bird tickets are available until Saturday, September 5th. Attendees are encouraged to purchase and arrive early to secure their seats.
