JSUNAA Holmes County Chapter renames scholarship in honor of Rep. Robert G. Clark Jr. and Jo Ann Ross-Clark
JANS – The Jackson State University National Alumni Association (JSUNAA) Holmes County Chapter has officially renamed its High School Senior Scholarship in honor of two distinguished charter members, husband and wife Representative Robert G. Clark Jr. and Jo Ann Ross-Clark. The newly named Representative Robert G. Clark, Jr. and Jo Ann Ross-Clark Academic Scholarship recognizes the Clarks’ enduring commitment to education, mentorship, and community service.
Rep. Clark, a trailblazing leader and the first African American elected to the Mississippi Legislature since Reconstruction, played a pivotal role in shaping the chapter’s growth and influence. Alongside his wife, Jo Ann, he mentored and inspired members, emphasizing the importance of expanding the chapter’s reach and impact. Their dedication to education and leadership development left an indelible mark on Holmes County and the JSUNAA community.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to deserving seniors from Holmes County Central High School who plan to attend Jackson State University. The presentation will take place during the school’s baccalaureate service in May, celebrating the achievements of outstanding students who exemplify the values of academic excellence and leadership.
“This renaming is a testament to Representative and Mrs. Clark’s unwavering support for education and their lasting influence on our chapter,” said Jamye Horton, JSUNAA-Holmes County Chapter President. “We are honored to continue their legacy by supporting the next generation of scholars at Jackson State University.”
The chapter encourages the community to support the scholarship fund to ensure future generations of students receive the assistance they need to pursue higher education. For more information on how to contribute, contact the JSUNAA-Holmes County Chapter at jsuholmescounty@yahoo.com.
