Rep. Otis L. Anthony to keynote MDCC commencement

JANS – State Representative Otis L. Anthony will serve as the keynote speaker for Mississippi Delta Community College Spring 2026 commencement ceremonies on May 8 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the J.T. Hall Coliseum on the Moorhead campus. This year marks the college’s 100th anniversary.

Representative Anthony will address graduates from both the academic and career-technical divisions during the college’s two ceremonies, celebrating the achievements of MDCC students as they complete their educational journeys.

A lifelong resident of the Mississippi Delta, Anthony represents District 31 in the Mississippi House of Representatives, serving Bolivar and Sunflower counties. He currently serves as chairman of the House Youth and Family Affairs Committee and is an active member of several key committees, including Ways and Means.

In addition to his legislative service, Anthony is a strong supporter of MDCC and serves on the MDCC Foundation Board, demonstrating his commitment to advancing educational opportunities and student success across the region.

Anthony is also a respected pastor and business leader. He serves as pastor of West Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington, Mississippi, and is the CEO of Anthony & Company, LLC, an independent financial services firm. He is also co-founder of the Delta Development Institute & Interpretive Center, an organization focused on childcare, financial literacy, and voter education.

A graduate of Gentry High School, Anthony studied political science/pre-law at Tougaloo College and later earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in theology from Agape Bible College. He has completed several leadership programs, including the Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills (CALS), the Henry Toll Fellowship, and the Delta Leadership Institute.

Anthony and his wife, Porchia Caldwell Anthony, have two children.
