Monica McGhee represents CPSD in Atlanta

Monica McGhee, Instructional Coordinator, represented Canton Public School District’s High School Equivalency Program (HSEP) at the 2026 GED Level Up Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

“This experience was especially meaningful because I was the first representative from Canton Public School District to ever attend this national conference. I had the opportunity to learn about innovative programs, new instructional strategies, and exciting opportunities that will help us continue expanding pathways to success for our students.

“One of the highlights of the conference was meeting Beth Little with the Mississippi Community College Board. During her presentation, she proudly recognized Canton Public School District as the first district in Mississippi to implement the Total Transcript Option – an innovative pathway that allows eligible students to earn their High School Equivalency credential through the ACT WorkKeys component.

“The best part? She had no idea I was sitting in the audience! I turned around and said, ‘Hey! That was us!’ She smiled, acknowledged our district, and shared how impressed she was that Canton Public School District moved so quickly to embrace this opportunity for our students.

“Moments like this remind me why I love what I do. It was an honor to see our district recognized on a national stage for being a leader in educational innovation.

“I’m excited to bring back new ideas, resources, and best practices that will help our students achieve even greater success.

“A special thank you to Canton Public School District for supporting professional growth and investing in opportunities that ultimately benefit our students. The future of our High School Equivalency Program is brighter than ever!”
