Fit Check Your Plans with the Lord

“Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3 (NKJV)

Before we leave home, many of us do a “fit check.” We stand in front of the mirror to make sure everything is in place before stepping out the door.

This week, I want to challenge you to do something even more important—a spiritual fit check.

God calls us to plan. He expects us to count the cost, prepare diligently, and write the vision. Habakkuk 2:2–3 reminds us to make the vision plain so those who read it can run with it. Planning is not a lack of faith; it is an act of stewardship.

However, there is a difference between making plans and insisting that our plans remain unchanged.

Proverbs 16:9 tells us, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” We are responsible for preparing, but God is responsible for establishing.

That means every business strategy, ministry initiative, book, project, event, and personal goal should be submitted to Him. Once you’ve done your part, give God the freedom to do His.

He may refine your plans.

He may rearrange your timeline.

He may redirect your assignment.

He may even remove something you thought was essential because He sees what you cannot.

Faith is not simply believing God will bless your plans. Faith is trusting Him enough to let Him change them.

As Kingdom leaders, our highest priority is not accomplishing our agenda but fulfilling His purpose. We want His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. That requires hearts that remain flexible in His hands.

So this week, before moving full speed ahead, pause and ask yourself:

“Lord, do these plans still fit Your purpose for my life?”

When your plans fit God’s purpose, you can move forward with confidence, knowing He is establishing every step.
