The Tougaloo Bulldogs dominated Southeastern Baptist 94–28 last Thursday night in front of the home crowd. Despite taking a 20+ point lead into halftime, the coaching staff continued to reinforce staying competitive and playing hard.

I caught up with Bulldogs head coach Eric Strothers after the game. He shared knowing early in the season he had a special group of players. That belief is exactly what kept the team locked in, as Tougaloo secured the 2026 HBCUAC Western Division Title with a 10–2 conference record.

Senior forward Antonio Patterson led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Jagger Young finished with 17 points, followed by 10-point performances from both Tyler Hudson and Demarcus Hollis.

I spoke with Patterson after the locker room celebration. The team wasn’t just celebrating the win, they were also celebrating Patterson’s birthday. It was a pleasure speaking with him as he excitedly described what it means to be a senior with the Bulldogs. Patterson prides himself on being a leader and setting the example both on and off the court. The energy was very high, and the team was hyped about winning the division title.

Immediately following the game, the Tougaloo Athletics Department held a net-cutting ceremony to recognize the division championship. This was a special moment for everyone involved. Family members, staff, and friends cheered them on and joined the celebration.

The Tougaloo Bulldogs’ regular season wraps up on February 19th against Arkansas Baptist College before heading to Tuscaloosa, AL, for the 2026 HBCUAC Championship.
