State NAACP confab on tap for Nov. 6-8
JANS – The 80th Annual Mississippi State Conference NAACP Convention & Policy Institute will be held Nov. 6-8, 2025, in Jackson, MS at the Jackson Convention Complex. This year’s theme is “80 Years of Advocacy: The Fierce Urgency of Now.”
“Members, leaders, and partners from across Mississippi will gather for three unforgettable days of learning, connection, and movement building,” said State NAACP President Dr. Robert James. “This year’s convention promises engaging discussions, lively celebrations, and opportunities to continue advancing the mission of the NAACP.”
The robust schedule includes panel discussions, interactive workshops, and expert speakers addressing key issues in health, policy, and civic engagement. Also available to attendees will be a Freedom Marketplace and Health Fair.
A Catfish & Blues cultural celebration, in partnership with the City of Jackson and the National Folk Festival, will feature a special performance by 3-time Grammy winner Bobby Rush.
The Freedom Fund Banquet keynote address will be delivered by Karen Boykin-Towns, NAACP Vice Chair, and Cheryl Turner, International President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will receive the inaugural Derrick Johnson Award, named for National NAACP President/CEO and former president of the State NAACP.
In conjunction with adult chapters, the NAACP Youth & College Division will host activities aimed at empowering young leaders to make democracy work in Mississippi.
