Smoke & Mirrors: An evening where mystery meets luxury

Jackson, Mississippi, is set to host one of its most memorable nights of elegance this fall. On November 15, 2025, The Continental Cigar Club, in partnership with L. Lashley Beauty & Fashion, will unveil Smoke & Mirrors: Where Mystery Meets Luxury. This event, hosted by Melanie Sanders, is  designed to transport guests into a world of sophistication and timeless class.

Located at 505 North State Street, The Continental Cigar Club has established itself as a cigar lounge, cultural destination, and  sanctuary for professionals to gather, converse and connect. 

Terris C. Harris, founder of The Continental, said:  “The idea of creating The Continental has been in my heart and mind for nearly five years. I came across the house that has now become the home of The Continental. And I knew instantly it was the perfect fit. Everything aligned seamlessly, as if it had been waiting for this exact moment.”

Harris’s vision was never just about cigars. It was about creating a space where conversation, camaraderie, and culture could flourish. “My vision for The Continental was always to create a space where professionals with like-minded spirits could gather, interact, and connect. There is something timeless about cigars. The way they naturally spark conversation, encourage camaraderie, and bring people together. That unique culture of dialogue and connection was the perfect nuance around which to build The Continental.”

Selma Kelly, co-architect of the dream, sees the club as an extension of Harris himself. “When Terris first shared his vision with me, it was immediately clear. His passion for Scotch, cigars, and for building a community where driven individuals could connect was easy to see and easy to believe in. The Continental is truly a reflection of Terris himself. When you step through the doors, you feel as though you’ve been transported to another world. Each room, with its unique décor, tells a story and sets a mood.”

That immersive experience extends to the club’s custom cigar line, developed in collaboration with a distinguished Dominican factory, also named The Continental. “Together, we developed a custom line that now defines our cigar experience, a collection that embodies not only quality but also the spirit of The Continental,” Selma added.

Smoke & Mirrors will bring that same spirit of intentional design and refined elegance into a night of fashion and luxury. L. Lashley Beauty & Fashion has curated a runway showcase that promises to elevate the evening with high end style and artistry. “I am super grateful for another opportunity to connect with one of the hidden gems in the capital city,” Lashley said. “The models and designers are prepared to give a fabulous showcase at this amazing night of luxury.”

Fresh from a successful run with Harlem Fashion Week in New York, Lashley is eager to bring her artistry back home. “It’s always good to come home to do what I do with the people I started out with,” she shared. “We have some of the incredible models of Dexterity Talent Group along with some of my favorite models from here in the capital city who will give you the runway experience. They truly are the best of the best.”

Selma added, “The Continental stands as a testament to what can be achieved when passion meets purpose and when vision is paired with timing. For us, it is not just a business. It is a legacy, a way to give back to a community.”
