Senatorial candidate Scott Colom meets with soybean farmers to discuss tariffs

JANS – U.S. Senate Candidate and District Attorney Scott Colom held a listening session with a group of farmers to hear firsthand how the tariffs are hurting their livelihoods.

The farmers in attendance were soybean farmers who are feeling the impact from China’s recent decision to stop purchasing soybeans from the United States due to tariffs. All of them expressed concerns that their farms may not be able to survive with the inability to sell their product and the rising costs of equipment.

“I enjoyed meeting with these farmers and hearing their concerns. It is clear that these tariffs are having a devastating impact on farmers and our state, and we need to act quickly to provide relief,” said Colom.

Colom also criticized Hyde-Smith for her comments on the Ruthless Podcast, where she admitted that “farmers out there may not […] hold out.” “Mississippi needs a senator who is going to stand up for farmers, not one who is willing to sell them out for political points,” Colom added.
