Self-Care Saturday in SoCal

May was a busy month for me, but even while traveling, I make time to honor the commitments I’ve made to my wellness plan. No matter where life takes you, your self-care practices should travel with you. Consistency transforms wellness from something we do occasionally into a lifestyle. It takes discipline, intention, and a willingness to choose yourself repeatedly.

One of my favorite self-care experiences this spring was a 10/10 pelvic healing session held at Keyz N Thingz, located at 2435 West Manchester Blvd., in Inglewood, California. This was a FREE community offering, hosted by Nikia Whitaker. I arrived just before 10 a.m. to secure my spot and found a cozy place toward the back of the studio for my yoga mat. The room filled quickly with beautiful, smiling faces, and from the moment I walked in, I could feel a shift in the energy. There was warmth, connection, and an undeniable sense of community. Love was truly in the air.

Whitaker brought incredible energy and professionalism to her space. She opened the session with guided breathwork before leading us through exercises and intentional movement designed to stimulate the lymphatic system. As the class progressed, the pace picked up, breaths became more audible, and we transitioned into movements that felt inspired by Afro-Caribbean dance. We opened our hips, moved stagnant energy, and created space for emotional release through breathwork and movement.

From there, we comfortably laid on our mats for pelvic floor-focused exercises and womb-centered healing practices. The entire experience was empowering, uplifting, and deeply restorative. The class concluded with a sacred sister circle. Out of respect for the women who courageously shared their stories, I will honor the confidentiality of those testimonies and comments.

For me personally, the experience was felt on every level – spiritual, emotional, and physical. I left feeling lighter, more relaxed, more open, and deeply connected to myself. And let me give you a heads up… my thighs were definitely sore by that evening!

This pelvic healing session was exactly the spring reset I needed as I prepare for a productive and purposeful summer.

One of the ways I stay committed to my wellness plan is by seeking out local wellness classes, healing experiences, and community-centered activities wherever my personal or business travels take me. Exploring new spaces, practitioners, and modalities not only supports my well-being but also reminds me that healing opportunities exist everywhere.
