Ring Ceremony Honors Terry High School Track & Field 6A Champions
Terry High School hosted a ring ceremony to celebrate its Track and Field 6A state championship team, honoring the athletes, coaches, and supporters who made history for the Bulldogs. The title marked a milestone for the program, capping a season defined by hard work, perseverance, and determination.
The event was made possible through the generosity of sponsor Elroy Winding, whose support ensured a fitting tribute to the championship team. Gratitude was also extended to Booster Club President Antoine Bourne and Idale Fleming for their leadership and commitment throughout the season.
Principal Matthew Scott received special recognition for his encouragement. His words, “I am not calling you out, but I am calling you up,” became a guiding mantra for the athletes during their championship run.
The program expressed appreciation to Sen. David Blount; the Hinds County School Board of Trustees, including Dr. Linda Laws, Dr. Carolyn Samuel, and Mary Killingsworth; and Superintendent Dr. Mitchell Shears for their support. Local leaders Alderman Chris Carson of Byram’s Ward 6 and Alderwoman Shimacha Gibson-Williams of Terry were also recognized for their encouragement and presence.
Athletic Director Tony Tadlock was applauded for his commitment to excellence across the district and for setting high standards for student-athletes. Head Coach Rondell Coleman received the highest honor for his vision and leadership in guiding Terry High to its first state title in Track and Field.
As the athletes received their championship rings, the moment stood as a symbol of teamwork, perseverance, and community pride. It will remain a lasting reminder of Bulldog excellence.
