Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. – Mu Sigma Chapter welcomes new members and celebrates others

JANS – Mu Sigma Chapter, the Jackson-Metro Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, recently introduced ten new members during a public induction ceremony at Fondren Hall. They are: Jokobe Brown, Maurice Dixon, Derrick Huntley, Leonard Martin, Kevin McNeal, Calvin Melton, Javon Millsap, Montez Parks, Walter Turner, and Zeric Washington.

Mu Sigma also celebrated the accomplishments of member Morgan Beard during their Fall business session. Beard, a photojournalist with Channel 16 WAPT, was recognized for being honored at the 2023 Southeast Emmy Awards Ceremony for “Best Morning Newscast” in his team’s coverage of the 2022 North Jackson (MS) flooding and subsequent citywide water system crisis. Beard and his team was also nominated for breaking news coverage of the August 2022 evacuation of residents from a senior living facility in Brandon (MS) after flooding threatened. Beard received his master’s degree in mass communications from Jackson State University.
