New school records set

JANS – The Jackson State men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Southern Miss Invite on April 3-4, with two new school records being set, three first-place finishes, and multiple personal bests.

Senior Da’Lon Harris followed up the historic performance of 53.07 meters in the hammer throw by breaking his own school record with a distance of 53.12 meters.

Junior Nedgine Morancy also set a new school record on Saturday afternoon. The Florida native leaped for a distance of 12.24 meters in the women’s triple jump in a history-making performance, which also earned her a first-place finish.

In the men’s discus, Kaiden Berry took first place with a throw of 51.94 meters. Rickey Green III won the 110m hurdles, clocking in at 14.29 to lead the field.

The Tigers recorded several personal bests, with Malayna Mallory earning a team-high three new personal records. Jaime Henderson Jr. earned two personal bests in the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles, while Kaylin Jackson also recorded two in the 800m race and the 1500m race.

Other personal bests include: Robert Salhab III (hammer throw), Zoé Jarvis (shot put), Duncan Koima (1500m race), Rickey Green III (400m hurdles), Amara Hawkins-Quinones (400m race), and Sedgwrick Pitts Jr. (400m race).
