JANS – Surrounding by generations of family, laughter, and heartfelt tributes, Mrs. Ada L. Williams celebrated her 90th birthday on March 2, 2026 – a milestone marking nearly a century of unwavering faith, devoted motherhood, and steadfast community service.

Born to a hardworking midwife mother (Bertha Lee Parker) and a skilled carpenter father (Lonnie Parker), Mrs. Williams was raised with a deep appreciation for both compassion and craftsmanship – values that would shape her life’s work.

For 46 years, she was the devoted wife of the late Taylor Williams Jr., with whom she built a strong and loving family. Together, they raised four children who carry forward the principles of faith, integrity, and perseverance instilled in them at home. Today, her legacy spans five generations. Mrs. Williams is the proud grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of sixteen, and great-great-grandmother of one – a living matriarch whose influence continues to multiply through her descendants.

Affectionately known as “Ms. Tweet” by many and lovingly called “Big Mama” by her family, Mrs. Williams has long been a cornerstone of the Ridgeland community. Neighbors recall her open door, warm meals, wise counsel, and watchful eyes over the children of the neighborhood. For decades, she quietly helped raise and nurture countless young lives, offering guidance, discipline, and encouragement as if each child were her own.

Her commitment to service extended faithfully to Simon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she has remained a longstanding and active member under the leadership of Pastor Eugene McDonald.

The birthday celebration brought together relatives and friends from near and far, filling the room with gratitude and reflection. Laughter echoed as stories were shared of her wit, resilience, and the unmistakable warmth that has defined her life. As the evening concluded, Mrs. Williams offered a heartfelt sentiment that captured the spirit of the occasion: “This was the best birthday I have ever had. And to be able to see all of my family without it being a sad occasion.”

Her words resonated deeply with those gathered – a reminder that the greatest gift is not simply long life, but shared life.

Ridgeland celebrates not just a birthday, but a legacy.
