Motivational Mondays in the Marketplace at The Chapel
The Peace of Being in God’s Will—even When You’re Tired
By Dr. Kathy Amos
There are seasons when exhaustion doesn’t mean you’re off track—it means you’re fully engaged in what you were called to do.
In leadership, we’re often taught that tiredness is a sign of imbalance or poor strategy. And while rest and wisdom are essential, there are moments when fatigue isn’t a warning, it’s a byproduct of obedience. Some assignments are weighty because they matter. Some callings require endurance, not ease.
When I reflect on Jesus carrying the cross to Calvary, what stands out to me is not just the physical burden, but the assurance He carried with it. His body was exhausted, yet His spirit was settled. His peace didn’t come from relief—it came from knowing He was fulfilling the purpose for which He was sent.
That same truth applies to leaders today.
There is a kind of rest that exists even when the work is demanding. It’s not physical rest, it’s spiritual confidence. It’s the quiet knowing that says, “I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.” You may be tired, but you’re not confused. You may be stretched, but you’re not misaligned.
This is often misunderstood in the marketplace. We tend to measure rest by how much we slow down, how much pressure is removed, or how comfortable things feel. But true rest—especially for those called to lead, build, and serve—comes from alignment. It comes from clarity of purpose.
When you know you’re walking in God’s will, there’s a peace that steadies you even when the workload is heavy. That peace doesn’t eliminate responsibility—it sustains you through it. It reminds you that your labor has meaning, that your obedience is not wasted, and that what you’re building will bear fruit in its proper season.
Motivational Mondays in the Marketplace at The Chapel exists to remind leaders of this truth: you don’t have to abandon your assignment to find peace, you have to be aligned within it.
Sometimes the most powerful thing a leader can do is pause long enough to reconnect with purpose. Not to quit. Not to disengage. But to realign.
Because peace isn’t always found when the work ends.
Sometimes it’s found when you realize the work is worth it.
