Mississippi Statewide Environmental Justice: Climate Change Summit 2025

From October 23 to 26, Tougaloo College will host the Mississippi Statewide Environmental Justice Climate Change Summit. This Summit assembles advocates, experts, and changemakers for climate justice and equity. The program lists dozens of panel discussions and several keynote speakers. The focus is climate change, disaster response, and the unique challenges encountered by non-white communities.  

The Summit is produced and sponsored by Jesus People Against Pollution (JPAP), in collaboration with experts and organizations in various areas. Among Summit sponsors are: Evergreen Consulting Group LLC, Global Green Development Group, Mississippi Children’s Defense Fund, National Sierra Club, Sowing Justice, Tougaloo College, and Woods Law Firm LLC.

Summit participants include: Congressman Bennie Thompson, Dr. Charlotte Keys (Founder and CEO of JPAP), Dr. Ben Chavis Jr. (President and CEO of NNPA), Ben Jealous (Professor at University of Pennsylvania), Karenna Gore (Founder and ED of Center for Earth Ethics), Deeohn Ferris (Justice and Equity Practitioner), and Mary Flowers (Founder and CEO of Global Green Development Group).
