JANS – Higher Purpose Co., a leading Black-led statewide economic justice nonprofit in Mississippi, is in the final planning stages for the highly anticipated Money, Purpose, Success Summit. The event will take place Fri., August 2 and Sat., August 3 at the Westin Hotel and the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, MS. This transformative experience will bring together Black entrepreneurs, farmers, and artists from across the Mid-South for a weekend of empowerment, education, and community building.
The first Money Purpose Summit (MPS) and then Legacy Purpose Summit (LPS) were started by Higher Purpose Co. in 2016 and 2021, respectively, to provide a positive space for businesses to learn, grow, and network. Over the past eight years, the business summits have been vital to the growth of business owners across the Mid-South, providing resources and tools to help launch or elevate their businesses and communities.
This year both the women’s and men’s summit will be combined with the addition of youth-focused sessions for ages 14-21. This consolidation will allow for a more inclusive and impactful experience, leveraging the momentum gained from previous summits to create a flagship event for the state of Mississippi.
“It is truly amazing to see our vision for a full one-day summit to take place in the capital city of Jackson,” says Dr. Tim Lampkin, founder & CEO of Higher Purpose Co. “We have incorporated feedback from previous summit attendees that will elevate this entire experience. #MoneyPurposeSuccess has grown to be the most impactful business summit for Black entrepreneurs in the Mid-South.”
The year’s summit anticipates over 500 attendees and will feature a range of engaging activities, including networking mixers, a $10K business pitch competition, breakout sessions, art exhibits, dedicated youth workshops, and book signings. Breakout sessions will cover various topics such as finance, venture capital, marketing & branding, beauty, health, and lifestyle. Attendees can expect to connect with industry leaders, gain valuable insights, and forge lasting partnerships.
“This year we are purposefully tailoring Money, Purpose, Success Programming to connect with younger audiences, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping tomorrow,” says Dr. Shequite Johnson, chief programming officer for Higher Purpose Co. “This includes spotlighting speakers and themes that speak to their concerns, creating avenues for youth involvement and empowerment, and prioritizing diverse viewpoints and backgrounds in our programming. By engaging with our youth actively, we aim to promote inclusivity, ignite creativity, and nurture a community that thrives on intergenerational cooperation for shared achievements.”
This year’s guest speakers include Arlan Hamilton, founder of Backstage Capital; Dee-1, award-winning Hip Hop artist; Todd Anderson, content creator; Maya Elious, CEO of Built To Impact; Dr. Tye and Courtney Caldwell, co-founders of ShearShare; Leonte Benton, president of T.
