JANS – On Sunday, May 7, 2023, the JPS-Tougaloo Early College High School (JTECHS) Program celebrated the excellent accomplishments of its second graduating class. Twenty-two scholars received their Associate of Arts degrees from Tougaloo College before receiving their high school diplomas.

The JTECHS class of 2023 has a total of 29 seniors that will graduate with over 60 hours of college credits and a combined total of over $7 million in scholarships. Additionally, earlier this school year, each of them were awarded full tuition scholarships to continue their bachelor’s degrees at Tougaloo.

When asked to reflect on her years in the early college high school program, Makinze Dixon said, “My experience has been nothing short of amazing. When I started my matriculation there, I must admit, I was not excited at all, but things got better immediately.  Being in this program granted me several opportunities and brought me out of my shell. Now I know this was the best high school experience I could have ever gotten.”
