JANS – Jackson Public Schools announced its new Executive Director of Athletics for the 2024-2025 school year.
Kennieth Green currently serves as the Associate Director of Athletics, diligently leading the athletic department to achieve high standards both on the field and in the classroom.
Green brings 22 years of experience in teaching, coaching, and administration. He began his teaching career in the Canton Public School District in 2002 as a 6th-8th grade Science teacher. From 2004-2006, he also served as a college instructor at Holmes Community College, where he taught General Biology. Green’s administrative career began at Jim Hill High School, where he was the 10th grade Assistant Principal and School Level Athletic Director from 2006-2013. During this period, the Jim Hill Boys’ basketball team won the 6A State Boys’ Basketball Championship in 2012.
In January 2014, Green was promoted to principal at Murrah High School, where he served until 2016. During his tenure, the Murrah Girls’ basketball team won the 6A Girls’ Basketball State Championship in 2016. He then served as the principal of Cardozo Middle School from 2016-2018 and Bailey APAC Middle School from 2018-2021. Under his leadership, Bailey APAC was recognized as the #1 Middle School in the State of Mississippi in 2019.
Green is committed to providing JPS scholar-athletes with championship experience.
He is a 1999 graduate of Jackson State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Biology from Jackson State University, and a Specialist’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi.
An active member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Green serves his community by participating in annual scholarship programs for students, conducting annual ACT Prep Workshops in Science, and organizing annual canned food drives and health fairs.
Green is married to Aarolyn and has three children: Kennieth Green II, Kennedy Green, and Kendell Green.
