JANS – Hinds Community College’s three Practical Nursing programs together achieved a 100 percent passage rate on the 2023 NCLEX-PN licensing examination, only one of two Mississippi community colleges that had a perfect pass rate.

The Nursing Allied Health program has 46 students; Rankin Campus, 11 students;  and Vicksburg-Warren Campus, 15 students – for a total of 72 students.

“Our students’ dedication, determination, and perseverance throughout their nursing school journey are truly commendable and deserving of heartfelt congratulations,” said Emily Luther, Hinds’ Director of Practical Nursing. “Equally commendable is the exemplary effort our Hinds Community College Practical Nursing faculty team put forth.”

Luther said the April 2023 exam was particularly challenging because of changes in the exam’s style.

“Our faculty members have labored diligently to ensure that our students were thoroughly prepared for the evolving testing style. Their unwavering dedication and commitment have significantly contributed to our graduates’ success, and we express our sincere appreciation for their tireless efforts,” she said.

Students must pass the NCLEX exam before they can receive a license to practice.
