Heal Mississippi Day officially launched

JANS – A powerful and historic moment took place April 25, 2026, as Heal Mississippi Day was officially launched in honor of American Idol Jamal Roberts during the Best of Mississippi Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Gala.

Presented before a distinguished audience of honorees, leaders, community supporters, and guests from across Mississippi, the launch marked more than a ceremonial recognition. It introduced a statewide call to healing, hope, unity, restoration, and prayer.

Heal Mississippi Day was established to recognize the impact of a message that has deeply resonated with people throughout the state. Inspired by the influence connected to Jamal Roberts and the message of “Heal Mississippi,” this special day represents a call for healing in communities, families, leadership, culture, and the heart of Mississippi itself.

The official observance was made possible in part through the support of Representative Fabian Nelson, who sponsored the bill recognizing May 18 as Heal Mississippi Day. His support helped bring this meaningful vision into an official expression of honor and statewide significance.

“Tonight was more than an announcement. It was a moment of purpose,” said Dr. Kathy L. Amos, Founder of the Best of Mississippi Hall of Fame and visionary behind the launch presentation. “Heal Mississippi Day represents a call for Mississippi to come together in healing, hope, and unity. We are honored to recognize Jamal Roberts in this special way and grateful for the leadership and support that helped make this day possible.”

During the gala, the official resolution for Heal Mississippi Day was publicly presented as a symbol of recognition, honor, and vision. The moment served not only as a tribute to Jamal Roberts, but also as an invitation for Mississippians across the state to participate in a greater movement centered on healing and prayer.

In addition to being a day of honor, Heal Mississippi Day is also being recognized as a day of prayer for the State of Mississippi. Organizers are calling on leaders, families, churches, organizations, and citizens from across the state to gather at the Mississippi State Capitol on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 12:00 noon for a special time of united prayer.

This gathering will serve as a public expression of faith, hope, and solidarity as participants come together to pray for healing in Mississippi’s communities, families, institutions, and future.

As presented during the gala, Heal Mississippi Day stands as a call to:
