On Aug. 14th, Working Together Jackson and Working Together Mississippi faith leaders gathered at the International Museum of Muslim Cultures to denounce recent comments by Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce and gubernatorial candidate Andy Gipson concerning the state’s Muslim community. Leaders called the remarks divisive and inappropriate for a state leader, emphasizing that religious freedom, dignity and participation in civic life should extend to all Mississippians.
